Nileshkumar Patel, M.D., M.B.A., is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology. Dr. Patel completed his medical training in the United Kingdom, followed by residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he also served as attending staff. He also has an executive MBA from the Kellogg program at Northwestern University in Chicago. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience in academic and private practice.
As a National and International lecturer, Dr. Patel has served extensively as a teacher and mentor. He has lectured at multiple academic programs; as well, at pain society meetings including ASA, ASRA, WIP, SIS and ASIPP. His teaching experience includes cadaveric and academic instruction in multiple countries as well as service to panels, with peer review for several pain journals. Dr. Patel is extensively published with 40 original research publications. His current interests are multidisciplinary care and access. His research interests include radiofrequency neurotomy, spinal cord stimulation, interspinous spacers, deep brain stimulation, minimally invasive options, and non-invasive options that address unmet needs and decrease the opioid burden.
He is most passionate about advocacy efforts addressing access to multidisciplinary care for the chronic pain patients. This is so that each one of the 20 million US citizens afflicted with chronic high impact pain has an evaluation by a qualified pain specialist, who can provide an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment that best meets the patient needs.
He currently serves as Vice President Medical Affairs for Boston Scientific, Neuromodulation division.
