Author Paul Christo

Dr. Paul Christo is one of America’s foremost experts on relieving pain and currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Division of Pain Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He and a team of specialists help patients overcome the agony of back pain, cancer pain, nerve pain, persistent shingles pain, complex regional pain syndrome (RSD), post-surgical pain, and many other conditions.

He’s helped to pioneer the non-invasive treatment of neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome using botulinum toxin (Botox) under CT guidance.

Dr. Christo is a board-certified, Harvard-trained anesthesiologist and Hopkins-trained pain medicine specialist. He directed the Blaustein Pain Treatment Center for five years and the Multidisciplinary Pain Fellowship Program for eight years Dr. Christo lectures internationally, serves on editorial boards, teaches, co-edited three textbooks on pain, and has published over 80 articles and book chapters on topics related to pain treatment.

Dr. Christo hosts Aches and Gains®, the first talk show on overcoming pain that airs weekly on Sirius XM Radio Family Talk 131. He is widely consulted by the media and has appeared as a guest on Dr. Mehmet Oz’s satellite radio show, The Balancing Act on Lifetime TV, NPR radio (The Diane Rehm Show and Talk of the Nation), Good Morning America Health, and Retirement Living Television’s Healthline. He served as the pain expert for the live Web Chat series on Pain Management, hosted by the Tribune newspapers and Baltimore Sun.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Christo has also earned an MBA from The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Health Care Management.
